Being a photographer with autism, I have no interest in false and fake connections in either the mental or visual form. I long for true and honest connection and suffer through a deep anxiety in the pursuit of it photographically. The act of portrait photography for me is a silent ballet between camera and subject with the sounds of natural movements leading the way. I often wish I could rid myself of my autism in order to be a more successful and outgoing photographer but the truth is I now find comfort in my withdrawn and reclusive approach to portraiture.
